Emotional freedom technique (EFT) is an alternative self-help therapeutic method for healing emotional distress and physical pain. It’s also referred to as tapping. According to its developer, Gary Craig, a disruption in energy is the cause of negative emotions and pain, and tapping the body can create a balance in your energy system. EFT focuses on the meridian points (or energy hot spots) to restore balance to your body’s energy. As such, EFT is based on principles similar to acupuncture or acupressure. It also has similarities to Energy Routines. Despite the lack of scientific research on EFT, some studies demonstrate its efficacy. The technique is not aggressive and can do no harm.
